Doc (1971)
Here's the IMDB page.
Stacy Keach plays Doc Holiday and Harris Yulun plays Wyatt. Faye
Dunaway is stunning as Kate Elder. (Altho she has a really tiny nose, she
seems to have a bruise or some dirt on her forehead most of the time.)
They never do call her "Big Nosed Kate."
I bought it and I'm glad. It's really a different take from the other
treatments I have. I like Stacy but my Sweetie thinks he looks more like
Wyatt than Harris Yulin does!
In this movie, Doc is sort of a good guy. He comes to Tombstone (over
an incredible sandy desert) because Wyatt is his friend. Before he gets
there, he makes an enemy of Ike Clanton, by winning Kate in a short card
game. Wyatt turns out to be after money, and basically a bad guy. He
engineers the fight at the OK Corral in order to get rid of the Clantons &
McLoury's and get himself elected Sheriff. He does get a hand from
the crowd after the gunfight. (!!!)
The gunfight is appalling from a historic POV. All of the Earps and Doc
carry shotguns. There are seven Cowboys and they are all shot
down where they stand, but not before Morgan is shot and killed. .
The movie was filmed in Spain, where they filmed many of the spaghetti
westerns and <surprise> Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
It doesn't look much like this part of Arizona, but that's OK.
Roger Ebert really liked the movie. You should read his review
here:
That's the reason I bought the movie, and I agree, it's a really good
western, with very amusing dialog!! If you collect movies about
Tombstone (like I do) you should buy it here
