Western Towns

There are three kinds of interesting towns in the west:  (Everyplace else is a "stop.")

Cowtowns

Most of these were on the Railroad, as it moved west. So, stories are set in the mid 1800's.

Mining Towns

A gold strike opened up California and then many folks started going west to strike it rich.

Tombstone (my home town) was the last of these towns.

Historic Towns

Some towns are famous because they were a destination for an outlaw gang.  Some are just "wannabees" trying to cash in on this phenomenon (just like I am!!!)   http://ruidosonow.com/default.aspx

"Explore the West without leaving the South"  Jim Dunham is a wonderul gunplay artist that I saw many years ago at the Flying W. Ranch in Colorado Springs.  He came to CCC, in Tucson, several years ago.  When I searched him out on the 'net, I found him in Georga!!  Oops.  These links aren't good.  I'll try and hunt down Jim and let you know what happened to him!

Forts & Test Stations

The settlers were protected by the Army, and it built forts.  Many of these still exist.  Also, the plentiful barrens provide a place to test weapons and practice killing people.  <just kidding>
